It is very common for travelers to Thailand to head straight for its mystic beaches upon arrival. Here we will… more>>
Oftentimes when flying into Europe one has a wide choice of where to begin a multi national journey, or several places in which to connect to a final destination. Zurich is a fantastic airport both as a final and transit place and it merits a spot among the top European airports.
First of all the airport sits centrally located within Europe. From here one can connect within an hour or two to anywhere else on the continent. It is obviously the hub of Swiss air, which offers top quality service and widespread destinations. The airport itself is not far out of Zurich at all just 20 minutes. It is ideally connected to the city and beyond via trains and highways. Even for one stopping over for several hours going out to Zurich or even some of the surrounding towns like Baden (where you can enjoy an excellent Swiss spa own) is an easily accomplished feat.
The airport is well maintained, simple to navigate and medium sized. There are plenty of nice places to relax, excellent café’s, restaurants and stores all with easy access to the gates. The place is maintained as clean, one certainly feels safe and things run like clockwork. As in all of Switzerland, be prepared for the expense. Nothing is affordable and the local currency will make normally high airport prices even higher. There are many interesting displays to explore, things like natural history, artwork and trendy tourism offices with riveting photos, promotional material and tourism agents ready to explain the full range of natural, historical and athletic wonders present in Switzerland.
As regards border crossing, one should be prepared for a friendly yet serious encounter with border agents. Either if one is coming directly or transiting to another Shengen area be prepared to explain the purpose of your visit and show proof of a return ticket or visa if required. Zurich is overall a great place to encounter a well run transit hub and entryway to a country that prides itself on doing small things perfectly.
The airport has seen a growth in traffic in 2014 and this has been accompanied by an increase in its luxury retail offerings, more cafe’s an online bookable parking system and airport prize offerings and shopping promotions.
