We have anticipated the opening of this new Waldorf Property for some time and we can say with all sincerity the hotel lives up to and even exceeds expectations. From the moment the valet opens your door till you cross the threshold of the exclusive rooftop pool, the hotel is manicured to perfection and elegance.
The address couldn’t be more posh at the angular intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards. The hotel is a megalithic structure on the skyline, but stays spacious inside at less than 20 rooms per floor. The lobby is a great place to relax and watch stars come and go like a meteor shower. Each staff member wowed us with intuitive and engaging service, taking care to note our preferences, walk us to the room, discuss workout routines and the texting based system of requests was phenomenal. Everything we requested down to the smallest details was taken care of quickly.
The room we had was on the 5th floor and the views were impressive. We could see downtown LA in the distance and much of Beverly Hills just below. The room is majestic with lots of white, cream and gold tones. The decor was tastefully elegant and everything from the linens, to the toiletries to the technology was a bespoke expression of a top notch hotel experience.
We took advantage of the gym with its new and cutting edge machines. The La Prairie spa was just nearby with a dedicated elevator and it offered a relaxation room and steam room. The on site salon was bustlingly busy and the in house restaurants feature some of California’s freshest vegetation under the supervision of well known chefs.
The rooftop pool is the hottest view going right now and the hotel has made great strides in keeping it exclusive for guests. There is a rooftop dining area on the other side of the building which allows for others to come and appreciate the high life too. The feeling of the hotel is a modernization of the classic hollywood elegance. Anyone who loves hotels and wants to see the cutting edge of Waldorf Astoria needs to visit and be inspired too!
