The world is a very resilient place. Humanity has gone through many difficult circumstances from war to plagues, from economic depressions to hunger and if there is something I have being able to witness is that we human beings are able to take out best in us and to step up as one whole family to help each other in the midst of the biggest uncertainties.
It has been many years since I started traveling. I was still a teenager the first time I took a bus and travel all alone South America. There was no internet and even very few guidebooks. As travelers we used to rely on the help and generosity of those we found along the way. I have seen natural disasters, I was in Bolivia in the middle of very hard political conditions, in Colombia in times of war and in the ex-Yugoslavia when they were living some of their most critical moments.
In every single place I always found men and women of huge hearts, always ready to support each other. In times of weakness determination become the answer and solidarity the real path.
This is the first time in years we have being grounded, we always thought about this possibility but now when we are facing it we have to admit it is still hard and confusing but after all this time of traveling we are sure the sun will shine again.
This is the time to stay together. It doesn’t matter how far we are from each other. The world is the home for all of us and we all are one in this trip that is called life.
We will be ready to grab our bags as soon as is possible to do it again. Travel is a force that helps us to shape positively many existences, it generates jobs, education and opens minds.
Out hearts are now with all those suffering in a special way: the sick, the relatives of those who have died, those whose livelihoods and jobs are in risk. We send you all our good vibes.
Thanks to all those who are helping, there are many who depend heavily in the travel industry. We as travel advisors have witnessed the difficulty firsthand. We appreciate the help and flexibility of those working in travel. We have a special shout out to Delta, Marriott and Hilton hotels they have been so great with us helping us to get reimbursements for those cancelled stays and plane tickets.
Let’s continue staying together, lest use this time to value the many things we take for granted, and please let’s not forget there is only one huge family that is called humanity, so our hearts have to become one doesn’t matter nationality, skin color or faith. If we become one, we only will become stronger.
