ESPA at the Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi
What is immediately a wonderful impression of this spa is that it occupies its own grand space in the larger Venetian Village built with the theme of Grand Canal that surrounds the entire hotel. Some might consider it a small hassle to have to walk outside the hotel building proper to access the spa, but this oasis of calm and tranquility is intentionally constructed to be an ornate labyrinth of indulgence.
We found it never to be too crowded because access is limited to hotel guests only, so we did not have to compete for available times. It is truly one of the more remarkable spas we have been to from the service, to the atmosphere and the quality of treatments.
The settings are ornate from the marble designs in the hammam room, to the changing areas, every inch of space has been luxuriously appointed. Little glimpses of light pour in through traditional windows, but overall the intentional dark colors and shadows interspersed with candle light make for a wonderful mood.
What is unique to the ESPA experience here is that the outdoors is just as much a part of the experience as the indoors. There is a naturally lit sauna looking out into a garden space, expansive relaxation areas for men and women and a private beach. Some packages even include meal service at the closest pool restaurant.
The facials at the spa are some of the best we have ever had. They take time to analyze your skin and really create a bespoke treatment based on individual needs.
The Hammam rituals are the signature treatments which come in various mix and match packages. These ritualistic and total body experiences include the use of Moroccan Argan oils, Eucalyptus, exfoliating body balms and baths.
The techniques and bespoke nature of each treatment were really what spoke to us the most here. We never felt rushed and the therapists were well trained to be sure to deliver a relaxed and technical ritual that led to deep relaxation. Prices were excellent for Ritz Carlton in particular and world class cities in general. When we get back the spa is the first place we’re headed!
