The hotel is built around an 800 year old pond garden and the seven room spa captures this beauty and compliments it with zen inspired décor in a relaxing haven where less truly is more. Wood, stone, lighting and everything being intentionally placed and tidy is just refreshing.

The Spa staff are very focused on any and all treatments happening like rituals. There are plenty of pre and post treatment rituals include steam rooms, saunas, whirlpools and relaxation areas.

Kyoto is a city steeped in imperial traditions and this doesn’t just stop at the architecture, the spa incorporates many royal treatments and top of the line pampering which has been traditionally passed down into its treatments.

What could be better after walking the dusty and historic streets of Kyoto than unwinding with a footbath infused with Uji green tea and a Tamba sea salt scrub. Almost every treatment features green tea extract from the famous Uji region and it is a good impetus to buy some of the cremes and lotions available in the spa gift shop.

Two treatments that are really a must experience for guests are the: Full Day Miyabi Rejuevenation ritual, with a plum sake bath, tatcha facial, massage and lunch.

Secondly there is the afternoon tea and spa package, use of the facilities along with afternoon tea ceremony and a choice of a 60 minute massage or facial. Prices are lofty because it is and the hotel has a top level name, but the experiences are truly unique and one of a kind among hotel spas.
