The stage is set, not just a new hotel in Bangkok, but the debut of Waldorf Astoria Hotels in Southeast Asia makes for a great reason to visit the city. Bangkok’s Ratchadamri Road already is packed with some of the city’s finest hotels (St. Regis, Grand Hyatt, Intercontinental) and its newest member, set to open August 1st 2018 will be an upscale, ultra-modern tower that promises refinement above the city bustle.
Waldorf Astoria has always delivered an impressive experience for us and it is a real pleasure if you are a Hilton Honors member with status because there’s always great perks. The level of service is solid across the brand and you know what you are getting. Obviously, the hotel isn’t open yet for us to compare, but we’ve got high hopes and a good history of experiences to back those up.
The schematics are expected to be set in a very modern tower which is part of a larger development that has 316 residences. The hotel itself will have 171 rooms and 20 suites. The guest rooms start at 50 sq. meters and will have floor to ceiling windows which will create a great sense of space. There will be a lot of bronze accents and soaring ceilings as the hotel has been thoughtfully designed by the Architect Andre Fu, who is big into inspiring visuals.
Expected among the offerings for guest indulgence are six different restaurants, including a signature rooftop restaurant called Thai Nordic, (sounds fascinating) 55 floors up. There will be two hotel bars as well. There will be a wellness spa and outdoor infinity pool and expansive wedding and meeting venues.
Certainly being one of the newest names in the upscale hotel market of Bangkok will make for an opportunity to prove themselves as well as being the brand’s first manifestation in Southeast Asia. A personal concierge will be available for the entirety of the stay and this will bring anticipatory service to a whole new level. We were really impressed with the functionality of this service at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills and are looking forward to seeing it again.
The hotel is right in the heart of the central business district where it is less than half a mile from Siam Paragon Mall as well as the BTS skytrain, the quickest way to zip around the busy city.
