The vision of Sao Paolo as seen from one of its thousands of skyscrapers is like a Manhattan that doesn’t end. In fact this city is 6.5 times as big as New York so the skyline is immense. With so many people, places and businesses it can be hard to decide what to do. Here’s our top take aways:
Experience the food! It’s an eclectic city where Italian pizzerias are the most prolific in the world, Arabic food can be found in abundance due to the huge population and every restaurant has a lunch offering with Brazilian Fechuada. There are culinary rules about these savory foods too. Fechuada is offered for lunch and Pizza will only be served at night.
Walk around Avenida Paulista, this is the main drag of malls and skyscrapers. It is a safe city but people recommend not to be flashy.
Ibirapuera park is a 545 acre garden which is a daytrip in itself. There are monuments, museums, lawns, jogging paths and abundant lakes. Some of the best photography in the city too.
The city has an excellent and huge metro system, it does not yet arrive to the airports but it is quite comprehensive in the inner parts of the city.
This is a city well preserved and appreciative of art and history. The Se cathedral is worthwhile as well as many famous museums and cemeteries.
