What really stands out to us as we visit hotels of distinction around the world are things like service, design, culture and atmosphere. Hotels that make a lasting impression are those that score high and the new Rosewood Luang Prabang is one of those places.
The Rosewood name delivers bespoke and immediate luxury across their carefully selected properties around the globe. We find their strategy to be always fascinating whether it is a hotel in chic Abu Dhabi or colonial San Miguel de Allende Mexico, the destination has a lot of thought put into it and the hotel brings an unforgettable experience.
Luang Prabang is little known to the outside world as Laos has only recently entered a major tourism development that is decades behind nearby Thailand. What is beautiful for guests is that it has the feel of being really undiscovered and authentic, a capital city of a sovereign nation, but a step off the beaten path.
This hotel is a destination and a marvel all in itself. It is an exclusive property as there are only 23 accommodations. There are four deluxe rooms, four specialty suites, three riverside villas, six pool villas and six luxury tents. Every room has a riverbank view and some even waterfall views. The 75-square-meter luxury tented villas include their own private dining areas and wrap-around decks.
The architecture is a nod to both Lao tradition and the French colonial style. There are local building materials used as well as local artwork. Amenities vary depending on the style of room but some have private pools, indoor and outdoor vanities, and the best in in room technology.
There is dining on site in The Great House which has Laotian inspired cuisine and a range of offerings. The Elephant Bridge Bar is a throwback to an old fixture in the area which will be offering up delicious drinks and cocktails. SENSE the Rosewood Spa offers luxury holistic treatments with a poolside waterfall and pampering treatments that are offered in a simple and relaxing environment.
