Many tourists each year make their way to the top cities in Italy on some great itineraries. There are many places to go and as far as the numbers go Rome and Venice are among the top spots. Renting a car in Italy is a very easy process and the roads are great to drive on. A road trip from Rome to Venice will allow one to explore many cities and regions along the way, but where’s a good place to overnight?
Three great cities one should explore between Rome and Venice are Florence, Bologna and Padova. Bologna is conveniently placed right in the center of such a trip and Hotel Fiera (Via Stalingrado, 82 Bologna) is a very affordable option with a great location near the highway. The rooms are simple but spacious and the building is kept very clean, the lobby is modern and all is in good working order. The check in was expedient and gracious. The hotel has a good breakfast option included in the room rate and it is a good place from which to launch a little exploration of Bologna as well.
Oftentimes a great tip on road trips is having checkpoints and goals along the way. This saves money as things are booked ahead of time and provides the most efficient use of time when moving along from one city to another. Bologna in our various trips between Rome and Venice has always been a great way to divide up the trip.
