On our recent trip to Langkawi there were so many great hotels to see, but not enough time to stay at them all! So we made sure to branch out and have a few non guest experiences of other hotels so that we could get an idea of what they offer.
The Ritz Carlton was high on our list because it has many wonderful reviews and looked like a beautiful property and it did not disappoint. We decided to book a spa treatment and to enjoy dinner at the hotel to get a feel for the service.
Upon arrival we were expected for our spa booking and they were every bit as gracious to us as if we had been staying in the hotel as guests. The property is a series of buildings, villas and bungalows spread out over a large forested coastline. Golf carts are abundant to help guests cover ground quickly and we were ferried to the spa immediately.
We arrived early to enjoy the wellness facilities and they are relaxing. The locker room feels like a deep forest retreat. If offers outdoor jacuzzies and plunge pools, indoor steam room, sauna, showers and relaxation area with teas and snacks.
The massage rooms themselves are these beautiful overwater bungalows shaped like traditional wood fishing traps from Langkawi. The views were delightful and the massage and facial treatments first class. The prices were quite good for the area and we had discounts applied due to our Ritz Carlton status.
Afterwards refreshed we walked the campus to the infinity pool overlooking the sea. It had magnificent sunset views and a lovely outdoor bar and deck. There were abundant staff members offering us rides everywhere, but the paths through the property are really beautiful to walk amidst flowers, bushes and grasses that smell and look so beautiful.
The restaurant Langkawi Kitchen was a true gem, it had an excellent selection of wines and we settled on a great Shiraz. There were abundant vegetarian options and honestly it was one of the best meals we had on the island. Staff were attentive and intuitive during the brief but memorable visit to the Ritz Carlton Langkawi. We highly recommend.
