The words Raffles and Dubai for those who love hotels and travel destinations sound like an award winning combo. Our recent stay showed us it truly is. We’ve enjoyed many properties across different chains in Dubai and this was certainly an unforgettable experience.
At first glance the Raffles truly stands out. It is constructed in the shape of a pyramid, only made of glass steel and stone, a modern take on the originals. The building is a classic one on the Dubai skyline, in a city where things are constantly being built. However if we could best describe the hotel it would be like a lady who has aged gracefully, the hotel might not be the newest on the scene, but it looks remarkable, with dedicated service and upkeep that shows impressive hotel experience.
The hotel with its Egyptian themed exterior complements it with a grandiose lobby worthy of a Pharaoh. There are massive stone columns with hieroglyphics, floors of colored marble, trimmings of gold and fountains in abundance. Our check in was for a club room and we were immediately escorted there for a more private check in experience. The staff worked to give us a nice upgrade, in the meantime we enjoyed snacks in the club lounge.
What can be said of the rooms except wow! The space of our junior suite was impressive and the decor even more so. It brought together the traditional charms of the Arabian hospitality experience. The bed was spacious and comfy, large couches draped with colorful blankets and pillows, polished stone, woodwork and golden lamps with red upholstery gave every inch of the room a royal feel. An inform iPad allowed for control of everything from pulling back the curtains to requesting a pillow menu. The balcony not only offered a great pool view, but a panorama of the downtown Dubai skyline, an unforgettable view. A large soaking tub with a window into the room completed the essence of relaxation the personal palace embodied. Our butler was an expert host who accommodated our every request, was prompt and engaging as well as innovative. How did he know we liked Red Wine? He simply read our minds and left a wonderful nightcap for our enjoyment!
The lounge experience is certainly worthwhile if you are considering a stay here. The area is divided into 2 floors and has a spacious area of window ascending several stories for a wonderful view. The staff make every effort to be prompt and personal. From the private check in to the breakfast, teatime and dinner cocktail service, they tailor the meal to your preferences and needs. Lounge service is stellar and anticipatory. We certainly enjoyed the well marked and eclectic vegetarian meal options during the whole day.
Who would think that a pyramid structure would have space for a relaxing spa, spacious pool, modern gym and even a garden area, but once again this is Raffles. The amenities are welcoming and satisfactory. All guests have access to Sauna, Steam, Outdoor Pool and deck, a modern gym and a picturesque walking area.
The Raffles knows what a luxury stay should be and their property as well as their personnel are beyond qualified and downright gracious in the environs and service they provide.
