Middle Eastern carriers are well known for their quality of service and extensive route network, so when the opportunity came to fly with Oman Air, we took the opportunity to see their business flight service from Dubai to Muscat, Muscat to Jakarta and back again. I had seen their planes on runways in SE Asia before but really didn’t know what to expect.
Our first impressions were amazing. Arriving to Muscat we found an airport that is bedazzling with marble, gold and fine furnishings. One of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. It is large but not too big, easy to transfer, clean and inviting. The Oman Air lounge was the one we chose to explore and it did not disappoint. It is just dripping with finery and luxuries while offering delicious selections of food and drink as well as comfortable seating areas.
The flight itself was an overnight venture and that did not stop the staff from being alert and welcoming to the highest degree. The planes for this route are their newest Dreamliners and in fact they were so immaculate it felt like this could have been the very first flight the plane was taking. The configuration of the plane in business is 2-2-2. This makes it so that every seat offers privacy as well as aisle access.
The staff are very friendly, even enthusiastic that we were filming and encouraged us to do so, whereas sometimes other companies can be a bit shy or awkward about it. As soon as we were seated they came with a selection of Arabic coffee, local premium dates, champagne and really endless offerings. The amenity kit is AMOUAGE an Omani brand with silky smooth skin products. The lotion alone will cost $100 USD outside. It is one of the nicest kits as well that we have seen, complete with everything you could want for the flight.
As soon as the plane took off we were presented with a refined menu in gold leaf and cardstock which is obviously printed and updated often to make each meal service special. There were tons of options for food, drink, wine, vegetarian options, mixing and matching from any of the menus was encouraged. We were heartily impressed by the whenever whatever approach they took. They encouraged us to ask anything at anytime or to request at particular times of our choosing, the luxury is really about having a tailor made experience.
The meal service was elegant and afterwards the staff offered to arrange the bedding which was done expertly and with very fine linens. There’s more media options than one could probably watch in a year straight and the facilities were constantly put in order and kept clean. The roundtrip price in business was $900 USD and this was certainly a amazing value for the service, route and class, it is good to keep an eye out for when these deals occur.
We had a connection in Jakarta with another airline that is not even in their partnership networks and they were able to print our tickets, connect the luggage and provide us with an escort through security to that flight all without being asked. In all honesty Oman Air is in our top five airline experiences for its attention to detail and intuitive service and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
