The Jumeirah brand is truly a remarkable bastion of hospitality that embodies the opulence and extravagance of the Arabian Gulf countries. This certainly shines through in the brand’s first excursion out of the UAE into a surrounding Gulf Country which is manifested in the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel and Spa property in Kuwait.
The Messilah Beach Hotel and Spa is actually a historic resort which stood on this property since the 1970’s and has now been completely reborn as a Jumeirah hotel. The hotel as we found it is truly a worthy companion to its UAE sister properties like the Burj Al Arab, the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai and the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi.
The hotel’s name Messilah describes a place where low lying waters meet the sea. As such water is a ubiquitous theme found throughout the hotel. From the moment one walks in the property is striking with its unmistakeable Arabic design. Water flows from the central lobby all along the property in its multitude of fountains, streams and channels. The hotel decor is a blend of traditional furnishings and sculptures set in the backdrop of majestic modern architecture. Typical Kuwaiti oriel windows are found along the building, just one example of how one can appreciate local traditions in a modern marvel.
The hotel is located on Messilah Beach along the Southern coast of Kuwait City. Locally it is considered a secluded spot, but it can be accessed from any point in the city for a 3 Dinhar Taxi ride, which will be a 15 minute ride from most of the city’s malls and attractions. There are 316 luxury rooms and suites, 80 service apartments and 12 villas. Many of the rooms enjoy a breathtaking view of the Arabian gulf and others are enclaved among the tranquil gardens or the resplendent courtyards. There is a executive club lounge for guests who have selected that package and it includes perks such as complimentary meals and drinks served throughout the day.
The spa is a central feature of the property and it is a one of a kind facility in Kuwait. There are 17 private treatment rooms and 2 suites, a fitness studio, hydrotherapy baths, a salt room and a steam room. There are different fitness classes being offered on site, among them yoga and Pilates. There is as well a relaxation area, a Hammam and a snow room that offers great benefits for health.
There is an impressive selection of six different dining venues on site, among these it is possible to highlight ‘Salt’ it is a specialized seafood restaurant with a very international menu. ‘Pepper’ is the hotel Premium steakhouse and ‘Olio’ is a typical Italian restaurant serving traditional and contemporary dishes. Most of the venues can be found just off the central lobby and have immaculate decor and settings.
This is a family friendly resort with several facilities designed specifically for kids and teens such as the Simbad’s Kids club and Scene teens club with activities to keep younger guests entertained. There are facilities for active people such as tennis courts and beach football and volleyball. The beautiful private beach along with the two swimming pools are other great spots for relaxation and enjoyment.
Jumeirah is known for the exquisite service it delivers in each one of its properties. We found it to be the most beautiful hotel we experienced in Kuwait which is home to many exquisite and competitive hotel properties.
