There are many things to like about this hotel, and a few to dislike. It is the tallest hotel in the world, in a very trendy destination, promising to deliver luxury and good service and who can resist that? Well, I didn’t and I finally stayed there in my last trip to the UAE.
The location is excellent, not far from the Burj Khalifa and the financial center, one can just walk and catch the Metro to any place in the city.
There is free parking, one of the things I love from most of the hotels in the Emirates, even valet is complimentary. This is a huge hotel and we were pleasantly surprised to see our car ready every time we needed it.
The fact that it is a huge hotel (which is why it has the Marquis name) is why some people may dislike it. Almost at any time of the day one will see the lobby inundated with many guests, and it can be a little noisy. They have managed that downside quite well, the lobby is huge and it is not hard to find quite places to relax.
We stayed at the concierge level, which is a real plus, we were upgraded to an incredible suite where the view is to die for. As soon as we arrived to the massive lobby we were taken to the lounge were check in was done promptly and friendly in a more secluded ambiance.
The executive lounge is another of the things to love in the hotel; one of the biggest lounges and one of the biggest offerings of food and drinks we have seen in this kind of lounge. Once again the view is amazing!
The gym is awesome even when a times it can be crowded, but it is big like almost anything in the hotel! There is a Sauna and a steam bath. No jacuzzi though! But the outdoor pool is fantastic!
The JW can feel a little cold and impersonal at times, I think it is something one can expect in a property with more than 1000 rooms, but the personnel do a good job trying to deliver a great experience. This is a good value in Dubai, the rates are quite affordable, we will not hesitate to be back there soon.
