Hotel Review: JW Marriott Hanoi

The JW Marriott Hanoi is a property that has impressed us immensely. Certainly luxury hotel experiences are memorable in most places, but this property goes above and beyond the experience one gets even at top notch Asian properties known for their service. The hotel enjoys an excellent location, in the heart of what is known as the new central business district and just steps from the convention center. It is a large property with something for all business and leisure travelers.

 An Innovative Design

The design of the building is a modern superstructure inspired by elements of local geography and native traditions such as the unique coastline of , the structure intends at the same time to reflect the shape of a dragon. The hotel is immediately impressive and ornate with areas like the pool room, public spaces and meeting rooms having soaring ceilings and lots of natural light to brighten the experience. The hotel features a total of 17 meeting rooms including two huge ballrooms with separate entrances and private parking.

Best Features:

The number one perk of this hotel is the attentiveness of the staff. Personal greetings and accommodations from the manager,  check in staff, lounge personnel and friendly interaction from the fitness and spa attendants was genuinely appreciated and pleasant. The hotel as new has hired many new graduates in the hospitality industry and they have received excellent training and carry themselves with the confidence of accomplished hoteliers.

More than being a skyscraper, the building is wide and lengthy. There are a total of 450 rooms, even the smallest ones have been generously sized at 48 square meters. A beautiful design has been carefully chosen, including wooden floors and floor to ceiling windows. There are 42 inch TV screens together with a premium Bose sound system. The bathrooms feature separate marble tubs and showers with luxurious aromatherapy amenities. Our status was graciously recognized with an upgrade and several gifts and notes of welcome.

For travelers staying in certain premium rooms and for elite members of the Marriott rewards program, it is possible to enjoy the exclusive services of the executive lounge, offering complimentary breakfast, light snacks and evening cocktails, and several other amenities. Lounge staff were able to assist us with transit, overall questions about the city and even prepare some snacks for an early departure.

Five dining venues are the delight of foodies. The French grill serves International dishes, it is open for dinner, this is a stylish restaurant where guests have the possibility of reserving a private dinning room. Its wine collection is superb and staff members were happy to give us a tour during the day. The JW cafe is an all day dining venue, with buffet and a la carte options. The Chinese palace serves authentic Cantonese food in the six private dinning rooms including three that feature outdoor terraces with a breathtaking view of the lake. The lounge is in a relaxed and casual setting, it is perfect for afternoon tea or just a drink. Finally Antidote is an international bar, catering to chic people looking for an upscale experience and great , it serves excellent cocktails.

Active guests will be thrilled by the state of the art gym with an unparalleled view of the convention center lake and gardens. The same floor is connected to an indoor pool unlike anything you’ve probably seen. Locker rooms have fantastic steam rooms, saunas and whirlpools. The spa is an oasis of skilled relaxation techniques and massages. The prices are very approachable for a luxury hotel treatment and the attendants are very capable professionals.

The debut of JW Marriott is a sign of the prosperity and the great perspectives for Vietnam and a wonderful compliment to Hanoi. The entire complex, plus the innovative and energetic staff who embody the hotel for guests are doing something amazing here and the best way to experience it is to go and enjoy it for yourself.
