The JW Marriott Aerocity is an ideal place to spend a first night or few days acclimating to India because the country offers such an immersion of the senses that you will want to be rested in order to embrace it all.
Many travelers feel overwhelmed when landing in India and one of the most underrated factors for this is jetlag. Most visitors come from a good distance away and the time confusion or lack of sleep can really mess with your adjustment. JW Marriott Aerocity is located just five minutes away from the airport. You can get to the Aerocity hotel complex by taking the metro or what’s even quicker and easier is to grab an Uber right outside the arrivals hall.
The hotel is a very nice airport property. The key word here is airport, don’t think of it as a place from which to spend all your time in Delhi or that it will have the appeal of a downtown property. The hotel is very large, has beautiful décor, restaurants, an executive lounge, full gym, pool, spa and spacious rooms and that makes it feel impersonal overall, but that really is all you need if you understand where it is located. There isn’t anything to go out and walk to and it is at best a 45 minute ride from the city center, so it is not the place from which to explore the city.
There is a constant stream of guests in the lobby and reception, but the hotel staff are plentiful and do process their guests needs quickly. We had to call to have the room made up twice at one point and we had to wait a while to have the concierge get back to us about a reservation.
Some of the good benefits you can take advantage of here while acclimating for your time in India are that you can store your luggage if you are taking smaller side trips and coming back to the hotel at some point which we have done to reduce carrying luggage around. We found the exchange of currency to be a good rate and straightforward too. The gym, sauna, steam room and spa can be a great place to refresh oneself after the long trip and really adjust to the time and culture shock challenges.
The JW Aerocity has all the Western amenities one can expect from a hotel back home and we think that is this hotel’s best feature. India is not a place even seasoned travelers can dive headfirst into, it helps to have a transition with familiar surroundings and this hotel does that very well.
