The land of smiles offers something for every category of tourists, but especially for luxury discerning travelers. Thai hospitality and graciousness compliments the exotic nature and agreeable climate that make it such a serene destination. Our tastes have evolved and grown over many years of visiting Thailand and we’ve never found a limit to the abundance of ways travelers can indulge and pamper themselves here.
Luxury Hotels in Bangkok
Bangkok is inundated with almost any global luxury brand one can imagine. St. Regis, Rosewood, Park Hyatt, Four Seasons, JW Marriott, Mandarin Oriental and Peninsula are just some of the names on the list and there’s so many more! The affordability of the market and the sheer number of hotels is a big benefit that allows discerning luxury travelers to have a great variety to pick from. The hotels are immaculate skyscrapers with commanding views and some of the finest luxuries in Asia.
The beauty of almost anywhere you go in Thailand is that the culture blends right into the tourism and the infrastructure. The Erawan Shrine here is at the heart of the downtown commercial district and it never gets old watching people stop by to offer their best wishes and prayers for what they value most.
Refined Beach Resorts
There are thousands of idyllic islands from which to experience the heavenly tropical waters of Thailand, but among our favorites are Phuket, Koh Samui and Krabi. Each one has its own mystique. Phuket can get crowded on the main beaches, but it has beautiful hills and enchanted interiors. Koh Samui is a hotspot for private resorts like the W shown above and Krabi is a place of stunning scenery and cliffs.
Fantastic Fresh Food
In many of the excellent hotels, the food is not only sensationally Thai or International, but it is as fresh as one can imagine. From dozens of local fruits to vegetables that grow year round, the delicacies are endless. We especially love the growing foodie scene in the supermarkets as well, where artesian foods from around the world are being imported that one can enjoy cooking in a homestay or apartment hotel.
Once you have the proper fuel of fresh food and the beauty of nature all around its hard to sit around and do nothing. Thailand is a Mecca for the active lifestyle. It has world class golf and watersports, trails for running, hiking, crystal blue waters for diving and snorkeling. There are many active adventures planned in every part of the country and we’ve always been impressed by the endless sunny days with which to practice them.
Endless Tropical Beauty
Sometimes the best way to appreciate all of these wonderful convergences is just to relax and take it in. Take the beach swings in the photo above. Watching the sunrise and feeling the tide come in on Koh Samui was how we started every day at the impressive Ritz Carlton resort. The whole beach to ourselves and nature’s greatest dramas unfolded with little or no audience, Thailand is a marvel and a paradise.
