Hotel Review: Grand Hyatt Berlin

The Grand Hyatt Berlin is a masterpiece of modernity in the heart of a transformed city

Berlin is a city which has a very trendy feel and a reborn sense of purpose. Once it was almost completely destroyed but it is back now with a new feeling, great design, amazing and endless . In comparison with other European capitals it is also affordable. Part of this comeback is the Grand Hyatt Berlin, one hospitality name among several lives up to the expectations of a highly demanding traveler.

The rooms are spacious, modern and sleek

The location is perfect, just minutes walking from Potsdamer Platz it offers easy public connections to the most important points in the city, to the train station and airport. Several shopping galleries are within a stone’s throw of the place with excellent restaurants too. The hotel itself has a minimalist design with high class touches such as lighted marble, many orchids and cool spaces for relaxation.

Check-in was done in a professional and fast way. We arrived a little early so our room was not ready, but we were offered to await around half hour in the Spa area. This Spa has relaxation areas, steam and sauna, beautiful indoor pool and a striking Jacuzzi. The enjoyment of all these spaces is offered on a complimentary basis to all guests, something that is certainly appreciated. The gym even when it is small, offers top quality machines and equipment, they made a good use of the urban space and it has amazing views of the city.

The room was ready punctually as promised. We were positively surprised by the design and the generous spaces of the rooms. Certainly some of the best ones that we have found in these kinds of hotels in central Europe. A lot of wood, a generous tub with a separate shower, a spacious closet and a lot of light despite the fact that it faces the inner courtyard. They could have done a better job with the inner courtyard because honestly this view is a little unexciting. We have seen how other hotels come with brilliant solutions for these inner spaces such as gardens or good restaurants. It seems kind of a waste of space in such a premium real state market. There was a turndown service done in our room every night. We as well appreciated the generous and complimentary bottles of water that were left in our room every morning and evening.

Stylish art, shapes and architecture define this trendy hotel

The service was excellent and anything we requested was delivered very fast. The concierge was extremely helpful and always ready to advise us about the best places to visit or how to reach such destinations.

The hotel offered great dining venues, once again quite affordable for this part of the world. Internet worked well and it is chargeable –free for premium members of the loyalty program- there is a club floor with an executive lounge that serves cocktails and snacks throughout the day.

This is not the cheapest hotel in the city, actually rooms per night are among the most expensive in Berlin, but they are cheaper than in many other cities of Europe. The hotel is preparing for the 25th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9th 2014, with a rooftop culinary celebration and marking with celebration the exact moment the wall fell 25 years ago.
