Every routine economy experience we have had in Emirates is on par or even exceeds the business class service of many standard airlines. That’s why when we have the opportunity to book or upgrade to business class for a good price (and Emirates offers this quite a bit) we never regret it.
Flying in business is a consistent luxury experience across the Emirates fleet, but on our most recent occasion the A380 plane was truly a cut above. The last minute upgrade we took was a few hundred dollars for a flight that regularly costs between 3000-4000 USD.
There is no other way to say it, Emirates makes the majority of the competition’s standard business class pale in comparison.. Everything is about this experience feels classy. Premium drinks are always available and personal minibar accompanies the seat. From the moment we sat down endless champagne began flowing. The quality of the alcoholic beverages was quite high, with bottles of wine and champagne at least that I know retail between 60-120 USD on the ground.
The next thing that stood out to us on this overnight journey was how they make my bed with such care and precision. There was literally not a fold out of place on my sheets. The amenity kit for the flight was a Bulgari bag with all sorts of hygienic and beauty products. Not only was it a world class brand but products were tailored specifically to men, women and children. Imagine the precision and attention to detail along that goes into such thoughtful service.
When it came to in flight dining options and abundance are the adjectives that jump out immediately. Food and wine selections are incredible and the manner in which they serve them allows you to feel as if you are in a five star restaurant, the beauty is you really are. From the fresh food, pioneering chefs and down to the impressive cutlery, everything about Emirates cuisine is more ‘fine dining’ than ‘meal service.’
The focal point of Emirates marketing for the past few years is the standalone bar and it is certainly the hangout spot for the essential Emirates business ticket holder. The savvy airline crew helped passengers snap lifestyle poses and pad their social media profiles. The premium internet available during the whole flight made sharing this fantastic experience effortless too.
Despite what other airlines complain about ‘unfair advantages’ that Emirates and other government supported airlines have, the fact is they lead the industry in intuitive service, bespoke travel amenities and succulent cuisine. If I have the option at an acceptable price point to indulge in all of this, why the hell wouldn’t I!
