Exclusive and intimate is the enjoyable feel of the excellent American Express Lounge in an otherwise massive airport that feels like several cities in itself. Located Just near gate 27 in Delhi’s Terminal 3, this is the only American Express Lounge in India and it is open 24 hours a day.
Many lounges lose their exclusive feel because so many people are using them nowadays. Whether it is for purchase or perks that come with credit cards, internet can slow to a crawl, food service can be spotty and sometimes there aren’t even seats available. This has never been our experience in the three separate visits we’ve made to the American Express Lounge in Delhi.
There are probably only twenty five seats available and the lounge is smaller than a magazine store, but the details are well attended to. As soon as you enter there are a good number of staff who are eager to assist you with a food and beverage order. There is a generous al la carte menu from which you can request any number and kind of items. The chef prepares each order fresh and the ingredients are quality. The prep and serve time is impressive and very suitable for an airport schedule.
There are televisions and magazines available for entertainment but there is no dedicated wifi which was a let down as the airport wifi requires a cell number login which doesn’t always work with international texting to one’s phone. Also there are no bathrooms inside which means you have to exit the lounge and walk to the nearest restroom.
We have access because of the American Express Platinum card which has some great travel perks to take advantage of. Those who have been to the new Centurion lounges and know they are able to bring two guests in addition to the cardholder should be aware that in American Express lounges like this one there is a one guest limit.
