Al Maryah Island: Abu Dhabi’s new attraction for lifestyle, luxury and leisure


Things move fast in Abu Dhabi and in the Emirates as a whole. Just four years ago it seemed the first infrastructure was going up on Al Maryah Island (formerly known as Sowwah Island) today it is the heart of a new skyscraper neighborhood that will become yet another focal point for the city.


For tourists and locals alike the island boasts many , , restaurants, a world class hospital, and walkways with views worth of a 21st century city. Everything is set to be the new Central Business District of Abu Dhabi.


Sowwah Square


This is the heart of the island’s 114 Hectacre mixed development usage. What makes this place sustainable and inviting is the fact that at its epicenter lies wonderful urban living either in the thousands of apartment spaces or the premiere hotel rooms at upscale properties concentrated around the destination. Sowwah Square takes advantage of the scenic waters, open air gardens and magnificent skyline to create a livable social space.




The Galleria is home to one of the most pristine and inviting malls we have ever seen. The newness of the mall is evident and the features are sharp. It is a multi level complex that features a more intimate approach to shopping, but only with the best brands in the business. Parking is convenient and free while restaurants abound. At this point in the development most Dining options exist within the Galleria Mall and Rosewood Hotel. The mall has several cafes such as Godiva, Armani, Nero and Bateel. Almaz by Momo, Bently Bistro and Bar, Zuma and Sushi Art are all recommended within Galleria. Rosewood hotel has nine venues that feature various food and drink offerings, from bars to fine dining. Also the lobby of the Al Sila tower will feature a food emporium called Jones the Grocer that will be open from 07:00 to 21:00 daily.




At the very epicenter of the complex lies Rosewood Abu Dhabi. This sensational name goes all out to create a modern and upscale hotel experience. From the elevated pool with views, to the spacious and well appointed rooms to the abundance of restaurants and relaxing spaces. The next hotel in the pipeline is a Four Seasons that will feature near 200 rooms with 1,690 square metres of meeting space, six dining outlets, with elaborate leisure and spa facilities.
