Abu Dhabi is an essential trip for tourists to the UAE because of its importance as the capital Emirate and its recent expansion. Moreover it falls into one of our favorite off season destination because it is a place of affordable high luxury in March-May while maintaining milder temperatures.
Abu Dhabi is a place of architectural, hospitable, cultural and artistic accomplishment. The wealth of the area is notable not only in its infrastructure but in the splendid hotels, world class malls, cultural attractions and theme parks that dominate its skyline. The high season is during Northern Winter months which are mild in the desert. Low season is the dead heat of summer, but “springtime” March-May combines the best of both worlds.
Abu Dhabi is a place of wonders: The Palace of the Emirates, the world’s costliest hotel is open to a stay or visit. The Corniche is the gulf side walkway full of beaches. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a place of cultural patrimony and architectural genius. Hotels are found in abundance but certainly both St. Regis properties, the Ritz Carlton, Rosewood and Jumeirah at Etihad Towers stand out among the rest.
Shopping is an essential part of life and socialization in local culture. Malls are stocked with the best brands often with good promotions which only increase as one gets closer to low season. Abu Dhabi Mall, The Avenue at Etihad Towers, Al-Wahda Mall, Marina Mall and The Souk all offer a variety of shopping environments across a wide range of international retailers.
Yas Island is where the city has its family attractions located. There is a waterworld theme park, Ferrari World is the home of the world’s fastest roller coaster and some of the best modern showcasing of luxury fast cars. The Arabian wildlife park will give you close encounters with the wild animals and endangered species of the open desert.
Saadiyat Island is home to some of the city’s newest innovations and it is taking shape as the place of culture. A new Louvre Abu Dhabi is set to open here soon amidst delays, Zayed National Museum is slated to open in 2016 and a Guggenhiem is planned for 2017. Beyond all this desert sports, falcon training and expeditions are other popular events for travelers to enjoy.
